EFFECTIVENESS OF BEHAVIORAL ACTIVATION THERAPY ON DEPRESSION OF MOTHERS WITH CERVICAL CANCER

Most of the cervical cancer patients suffer from psychological effects and depression. The aim of this research is to identify the effectiveness of Behavioral Activation Therapy (BAT) to decrease levels of depression on women with cervical cancer. The method is quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest design with control group. This research involves 30 respondents that were taken by purposive sampling technique. Measuring instruments used are questionnaire of Beck's Depression Inventory (BDI) with 21 statements. The Independent variable is application of BAT and the dependent variable is depression level. The collected data was analyzed by paired t-test with significance level α=0.05. The result showed that there was a change in reducing depression level of cervical cancer patients significantly after the implementation of the BAT.
